The Brown Hotel | Louisville, Kentucky

The Brown Hotel | Louisville, Kentucky

Established in 1923, the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A. is certainly in a class of its own. This AAA, four diamond hotel, located in the heart of Louisville, Kentucky boasts 16 floors, 294 guest rooms, two restaurants, a lobby bar, a small fitness center, and over 24,000 sq feet of meeting space.

My room was a standard king that showcases old world charm. The pillow-top mattress and crisp sheets were incredibly comfortable, [thanks for a great nights sleep].

The wonderfully appointed bathroom has beautiful marble floors, Gilchrist and Soams toiletries, beautiful fixtures, and a lovely walk in shower. The one thing they don’t offer (to my surprise) is in-room dining.

I had breakfast at Grahams’ Cafe.  I ordered the waffles with bourbon maple syrup, and scrambled eggs with herbs. Both were excellent, and just the right amount of food. I also understand Graham’s Cafe does a brunch on Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 0900 to 1400 for those who might be around on those days.

One of the things this hotel is best known for is the “Hot Brown”. This iconic sandwich, if you will, was developed in the 1920s, tailored to aid the night club patrons or basically feed those who partied hard.  This amazing sandwich can be found in any of their restaurants, and the recipe can also be found online.

The Brown Hotel is certainly a wonderful recommendation when visiting the city of Louisville, Kentucky.  It definitely has something for everyone especially for those who like history.
