The Whitley Hotel | Atlanta, Georgia

The Whitley Hotel Atlanta is a Luxury Collection Hotel by Marriott. It is a beautiful four-star hotel located in the prestigious Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Named for a frontiersman named John Whitley, who helped in the development of the Buckhead area back in the 1800’s. This stunning hotel, that formally held the name Ritz Carlton Buckhead, boasts 507 spacious guest rooms including 56 suites. The Whitley also has a wonderful restaurant, lobby bar, well appointed gym, spa, and lovely indoor pool and whirlpool.

Upon arrival I was upgraded to a beautiful executive suite (this is a wonderful benefit of the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty program). The suite I was given was approximately 720 sq feet and came with a separate living room and bedroom. Each suite at The Whitley has either two full bathrooms, or one full bathroom and “powder room” for guests.

My particular suite had the powder room, as well as the main bathroom with a walk in shower, separate soaking tub and toilet closet.  The white linens are some of the finest I’ve had at a hotel lately. The bathroom is furnished with BYEDO “Le Chemin” toiletries.

The entry area features a wet-bar, espresso maker, and ample bottles of water.

Then you walk into the living area complete with a couch that makes into a queen-sized bed, two end tables, a nice coffee table, and two comfortable chairs. You will also find a large flat-screen smart TV.

The spacious bedroom features a firm (yet comfortable) king sized bed,  complete with lovely linens, a large flat-screen smart TV, desk with drawers, two nightstands, as well as a small seating area where you can gaze out the bay window over the Buckhead area.

The pool area is a wonderful place to relax and unwind after a long day. The ambient temperature is perfect with ventilation continuously being circulated. The pool is large enough to swim laps or just to relax, and I found the water to be a comfortable temperature. However, the jacuzzi is where I prefer to relax. It was a decent size, enough to fit 5-6 people comfortably with several jets around the seating area. But most importantly it was nice and hot, no look warm bath water.

This particular Luxury Collection hotel has an executive lounge. To my knowledge this is one of the ONLY Luxury Collection Hotels that have such a thing.  You can still see certain aspects of the former Ritz Carlton represented.  At the time of my stay, the lounge was open from Sunday evening to Friday morning.

You can obtain access by paying an upgrade fee, or access is complementary if you are a Bonvoy platinum or higher elite status.  The executive lounge offers breakfast, and afternoon Hors d’oeuvres complete with complementary wine, and beer. You will find numerous hot dishes, as well as a nice variety of cold dishes. The lounge also features a fully-automatic coffee machine/espresso maker, complementary sodas, juices, and water anytime the lounge is open.

All in all this hotel is a great choice when visiting the Atlanta, Georgia area! The Buckhead area boats wonderful restaurants, and world class shopping. It is also close to the MARTA (subway), and has easy access to downtown and midtown Atlanta.
